Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to eight points with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Southampton.
The victory is courtesy of Mohamed Salah’s brace and a costly error by Saints goalkeeper Alex McCarthy.
The Reds, now firmly in command of the title race, were given an unexpected scare by bottom-placed Southampton, who showed resilience despite their struggles.
Liverpool started strong, with Dominik Szoboszlai capitalizing on a defensive mix-up to curl in a stunning opener.
However, Southampton fought back, with Adam Armstrong and Mateus Fernandes turning the game on its head to give the hosts a surprising 2-1 lead.
Fernandes, in particular, was a driving force, causing Liverpool problems throughout the match.
Liverpool’s response came through Salah, who produced a moment of magic with a composed finish to equalize before converting a clinical penalty to restore the Reds’ lead.
Despite late pressure from Southampton, including a close-range effort from Flynn Downes saved by Caoimhin Kelleher, Liverpool held on for the win.
