Governor Lawal swears in newly elected Zamfara LG chairmen

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has inaugurated the newly elected local government chairmen who triumphed in the recently concluded elections held last Saturday.

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured all chairmanship and councillorship seats across the state. The swearing-in ceremony, conducted on Sunday afternoon, followed the presentation of certificates of return to the chairmen by Bala Aliyu Gusau, Chairman of the Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission.

During the ceremony, Governor Lawal praised the electoral commission for organizing what he called a “credible, free, and fair election.”

He reaffirmed his dedication to local government autonomy, highlighting its importance for effective grassroots development.

The governor also urged the newly sworn-in chairmen to align with his administration’s seven-point agenda and work collaboratively to bring meaningful progress to the people of Zamfara State.

“I urge you to form a formidable team and join my administration in working for the development of the state, especially in fulfilling my seven-point agenda,” Lawal said.

He called on them to remain in their respective local governments to acquaint themselves with their communities’ problems.

He said, “I want you to always remain in your domain and attend to the needs of your people.”

Governor Lawal thanked the people of the state for the support and cooperation they have been giving to his administration in its effort to change the narrative in the state.

“I want to thank the people for the continuous support and cooperation they have been giving to my administration in its quest for a prosperous Zamfara.

“I can assure you that I will do my very best to build a new state where every one of you will be proud of,” he averred.
