Ondo election: APC leads in 13 LGs as PDP cries foul | The Guardian Nigeria News

Ondo State Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Lucky Ayedatiwa, is currently leading in 13 local government areas as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the results of Saturday’s governorship election.

The state’s Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, who is also the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja, Kogi State, officially commenced the state collation exercise at 12:10 a.m. on Sunday.

At press time, Ayedatiwa has won in all 13 local government areas declared, including Idanre Local Government Area (LGA), which is the home of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship running mate, Mr. Festus Akingbaso. In Ifedore Local Government Area, the APC garnered 14,157 votes, defeating the PDP, which polled 5,897 votes.

In Ondo West LG, the APC received 20,755 votes, while the PDP secured 6,387 votes.

In Akoko South East LG, the APC polled 12,140 votes, while the PDP got 2,692 votes. In Akoko North West, the APC won with 25,010 votes, as the PDP collected 5,502 votes.

Also, in Ondo East LG, the APC received 8,163 votes, while the PDP managed 2,843 votes.

In Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo LG, the APC secured 16,600 votes compared to the PDP’s 4,442 votes.

In Idanre LG, the APC won with 9,114 votes, while the PDP closely followed with 8,940 votes.

A drama occurred in Idanre Local Government Area after a PDP agent claimed that there was no voting in Ofosun Oniseri. The agent also reported an incident of ballot snatching at Alade and requested that the votes from that ward be excluded from the local government’s total.

In Irele Local Government Area, the APC obtained 17,117 votes, while the PDP received 6,601.

In Akoko South West, the APC recorded 29,700 votes, defeating the PDP, which garnered 5,517 votes.

The results from Owo Local Government Area showed that the APC polled 31,914 votes against the PDP’s 4,740.
