Volta RFA holds Ordinary Congress

 The 2024/25 Ordinary Session of Congress of the Volta Regional Football Association (VRFA) was held at the Ho Municipal Assembly Con­ference room last Thursday.

Over one hundred delegates and participants, made up of club representatives, District Football Association Chairmen as well as other invited dignitaries, repre­senting football stakeholders in the region were in attendance.

The Chairman of the VRFA, Mr Daniel Agbogah, in his ad­dress, enumerated the successes the Association has chalked over the year under review, adding how his team of Executive Coun­cil members are determined to ensure that all football entrepre­neurs/stakeholders in the region continue to expand their football businesses.

Representing the President

of the GFA, Executive Council member, Gideon Fosu, who was the special guest of honour at the Congress, commended the VRFA for organising the league last sea­son, urging the region to ensure the development of grassroots football.

He said the GFA would con­tinue to support the RFA in the area of officiating fees to the tune of GH₵300,000 for each region for the season, in addition to pro­viding the RFAs and DFAs with logistics, monthly subventions, and monthly allowances for RFA Chairmen, their Vice Chairmen, and Referees Managers.

Gideon Fosu added that the GFA, in collaboration with FIFA, invested $43,000 in capacity build­ing for women administrators at the grassroots level, $100,000 in purchasing footballs for the grass­roots and will continue to invest another $100,000 in purchasing footballs for colts clubs.

He also outlined a number of festivals, including the Elite U15 Championship for both boys and girls, U15 Inter- district festivals, boys and girls U -17 Inter-district festivals, boys and girls Inter-Re­gional Championships for U15 and U -17, which the RFAs and DFAs are expected to organise and participate in for the coming season.

Gideon Fosu also com­municated the decision of the Executive Council, mandating all RFAs to commence mandatory girls’ colts U-13, U-15, and U-17 leagues in the DFAs just like that of the boys’ colts’ league.

It was announced that the Regional Division Two League in the Volta Region is scheduled to commence on November 9.
