Chelsea not ready to compete for EPL

Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca has played down talks of his side winning the English Premier League, saying the club isn’t ready for the title win.

The West London side sit in the fourth position behind table leaders Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal.

They have been in fine form in the domestic division so far, winning four matches, with one draw and a 2-0 loss to reigning champions Manchester City in the opening match of the campaign season.

Despite this estimated 67 per cent win rate, the Italian tactician believes his side needs more time to maintain balance as he has been in charge for three months.

“Competing to win the PL? I really don’t think we can compete with Man City or Arsenal now. We are not ready.

“Man City worked with Pep for nine years. Arsenal, five years. Us, three months…”. “The target is to slowly, slowly… get closer [sic],” a tweet by football journalist Fabrizio Romano on X.com read Friday afternoon.

Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson have both contributed 10 goals to the Blues EPL campaign.

Palmer, 22, bagged a record-breaking four goals in the first half in their 4-2 win over Brighton at the Stamford Bridge.
