RTU enjoy flying start in DOL

 Former Ghana Premier League (GPL) side, Real Tamale United (RTU), had a stunning start in the 2024/25 Access Bank Division One League (DOL) as they thrashed Wa Sore Nante 5-0 at Jinapor Park on Sunday.

Abdulai Abdul Rashid put the Northern giants in front with a 28th minute strike after he got on the end of a delightful cross.

Jacob Mangan doubled the lead for the home side four minutes later as Jonas Wisdom Manyina added one in the 41st minute to give RTU a 3-0 lead.

Blabala Bamson’s 51st minute goal and Gilbert Wiafe’s 85th minute own goal sealed victory for the Blues.

Blessing netted a superb free kick in the 42nd minute to give Bofoakwa Tano the lead but Ste­phen Korankye squared the game with a brilliant header.

Wa Power FC trounced Wale­wale Catholic Stars 3-1 at the Naa Sheriga Sports Centre.

Issahaku Wahab and Israel Iddrisu scored two early goals in the 13th and 21st minutes to give Wa Power FC a 2-0 advantage at the break. Walewale Catholic Stars pulled one back in the 67th minute before Mabrouk Moham­med put the nail in the coffin with an 87th minute goal to make it 3-1.

Hohoe United recorded a 2-0 victory over Akatsi All Stars in Zone Three. Goals from William Oduro in the 32nd minute and Francis Odoom in the 79th minute helped them to a winning start to the season on the road.

In Kukurantumi, Attram De Visser grabbed a precious point on the road against newly promoted Port City at Daasebre Boamah Darko II Park after a 1-1 draw.

Both sides wasted lots of goal scoring chances in the first half but Saqid Moro broke the deadlock as he connected from a rebound in the 46th minute to put Port City ahead. But Sonagnon Judicael Trekpo got the equalizer for the visitors six minutes before full time.

Also former Premier League side Okwawu United shared the spoils (0-0) with Home Stars at the Koforidua Sports stadium on Saturday. —Ghanafa.org
