One person was found dead in the aftermath of a fire at the Broadwalk Urban Village complex in Midrand, Johannesburg emergency services officials said.

EMS spokesperson Xolile Khumalo said the body was submerged under rubble and a collapsed roof – remnants of the devastating blaze that broke out on Tuesday night.

“The complex security have shared information that this is where the fire initially begun [on Tuesday] night,” Khumalo added.
