Neymar Junior has publicly thrown his support behind Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior to win the 2024 Ballon d’Or.
Speaking in an interview with Band Sports, Neymar emphasized that there is “no better candidate” than his fellow Brazilian to claim football’s most prestigious individual award.
“For me, there is no other better candidate to win,” Neymar said. “He’s a guy who deserves it, because he’s a fighter.
“He has suffered a lot throughout his life, but he has exceeded all expectations and criticism. He has become an idol for all of us.”
Vinicius, who has been instrumental for Real Madrid, is considered one of the top contenders for the award, alongside Manchester City’s Rodri Hernandez.
The official winner will be announced on 28 Oct 2024.
