Congress approves N3.6bn for Lagos 2024/25 season

The Lagos State Football Association on Saturday at its Annual General Assembly held at Molade Okoya Sports Hall, Teslim Balogun Stadium, achieved a monumental feat as it got its proposed budget of N3,614,749,550,00k for all its activities and programmes for the 2024/2025 season approved by the Congress of the Lagos State Football Association.

The breakdown of the LSFA football calendar includes organising over 19 football programmes that would fully engage the over 10,000 active male and female footballers and officials, in the new football season. These laudable football programs shall support an enabling environment for businesses to thrive and promote peaceful co-existence among the diverse ethnic groups in Lagos State.

In the background of the approval, the LSFA General Secretary, Akeem Rabiu-Okikioposu, expressed his satisfaction with the approval of the budget by the Executive Board and the Congress.

The approval of the huge budget for the football programmes of the LSFA is unprecedented in the annals of State Football Association in Nigeria, as it further accentuates the ingenuity and resourcefulness of the LSFA board ably led by its hardworking Chairman, Hajji Gafar Liameed.

Hajji Liameed on his part went on to acknowledge the unreserved support of Mr. Governor, Lagos State A, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the LSFA Board and admonished well-placed individuals and corporate organisations to key into the activities and programmes of Lagos FA and support its selfless efforts to engender a profitable and sustainable football ecosystem in Lagos State.

The Annual General Assembly of the LSFA, in another interesting resolution formally admitted Ikorodu City FC and Smart City FC, both teams representing the state in the NPFL and NNL respectively, into the Congress.

The well-attended and epochal AGA also had in attendance respected football technocrats that included the SSA to the Executive Governor, Lagos State, Damilare Orimoloye, SSA Grassroots to the Hon. Minister of Sports Development, Adeboye Anthony, former Chairman Lagos State Football Association, Engr. Waidi Akanni, Chairman, Sporting Lagos FC, Godwin Enakhena, and Pa. Kwame Arthur, and many other stakeholders in the state football community.
