The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) has unveiled plans to launch a N2.5 billion fundraising initiative to support vulnerable communities in the country.

In a statement on Sunday, the NRCS said the funds are set to avert the effects of severe hunger and malnutrition in the country within the next 18 months.

The agency noted that the appeal focuses on enhancing livelihoods, health, nutrition, and water sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services in the most affected regions.

Oluyemisi Adeaga, the NRCS president, added that a fundraising gala night will be held on September 28 at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Adeaga urged members of the public and development partners who wish to donate to visit NRSC official website: https://www.redcrossnigeria.org/nigeria-hunger-crisis-appeal.

“We are excited to bring together leaders and influencers from diverse sectors for an unforgettable night dedicated to making a real difference,” Adeaga said.

“The funds raised will go directly towards our ongoing efforts to alleviate hunger and improve water and sanitation conditions for vulnerable communities.

“We call on our partners and the public to join us in this noble cause. Your participation and contributions will play a critical role in supporting the resilience of communities across Nigeria facing severe hardship.”
