Labour Party’s Akpata loses polling unit to PDP’s Ighodalo

The governorship candidate of Labour Party in the 2024 governorship election in Edo State, Olumide Akpata has lost his polling unit to his PDP counterpart Ighodalo

At the polling unit located at Ward 06, Oredo LGA, Akpata’s LP got 32, PDP 41 with APC getting 19 votes.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won in 007 polling unit located around Agbor/Ogbonka- Agbor Primary School, at Esan South-east Local Government Area (LGA), Edo state.

At the polling unit, APC polled 132, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 78, while Labour Party got 0 votes.

The outcome is different at polling unit 19, Ward 4 in Oredo LGA where PDP polled 127, LP 35 with APC 11 votes.

The results have caused a stir as Ighodalo secured a notable victory in Akpata’s own voting stronghold.

Despite Akpata’s strong presence in Oredo LGA, which was seen as a base of support for the former Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) president, Ighodalo emerged victorious with a margin of 9 votes over Akpata’s 32.
