Following her first professional defeat, Nigerian boxer Bolatito “Black Tito” Oluwole has vowed to bounce back stronger after losing her IBF women’s light-heavyweight title fight against defending champion Lani Daniels at the Claudelands Arena in Hamilton, New Zealand, last Saturday.
In a post on her Instagram page, the 22-year-old expressed gratitude for the support she received and her determination to return to the ring better than ever.
“Thank you so much for your support,” Oluwole wrote.
“No giving up! It was a great fight, and we are coming back stronger.”
Oluwole suffered a unanimous decision loss to the experienced Daniels, with the judges scoring the fight 100-90, 97-93, and 98-92 in favour of the defending champion.
The defeat marked the first of Oluwole’s previously unblemished professional record of nine wins, including five knockouts.
Despite the disappointment of her first career loss, her performance against the two-time IBF world champion is viewed as a valuable learning curve.
The Nigerian champion had been making waves in the light-heavyweight division, and this setback is expected to serve as a motivation for her future endeavours.
Daniels, 36, continues her reign as the IBF women’s light heavyweight champion, cementing her position at the top of the division, especially on home soil in New Zealand.
