Mofi, Goodnews, others shine at CBN Junior Tennis Championship

It was indeed an action-packed weekend for over 300 Nigerian tennis-loving kids from all over the country who converged on the prestigious Lagos Lawn Tennis Club Arena for the grand finale of the 2024 Central Bank of Nigeria Junior Tennis Championship that ended on Saturday, September 7, 2024.

The competition held in the U-12, U-14, and U-16 boys and girls categories saw Goodluck Tersoo from Benue State dismiss Ikem Amasiani from Abuja 3-1 in the U-12 boys division before outclassing Isa Yahaya in the U-14 boys category to emerge double champion and carted home two trophies, courtesy of the Central Bank of Nigeria, while Mofi Antilola of Lagos State beat Bisola Ogunkolade 3-0 to emerge the U-14 girls winner.

In the boys U-16 category, David Edward (Lagos) defeated Dubem Amasiani (AAbuja) 4-0 to emerge victorious, while Gloria Samuel beat Goodnews Aina 3-2 in a keenly contested all-Ekiti State final to secure victory.

The girls U-12 title went to Success Godwin, who defeated Mabubat Rasaki 3-1 in the final.

Championship Coordinator, Godwin Kieka, praised the Central Bank of Nigeria for developing tennis in the country through the continuous sponsorship of the annual CBN Junior Tennis Championship.
