Jerry Ehiwarior, a renowned youth mobilizer and politician, has been elected as the new chairman of Ika South Local Government Area of Delta state in Nigeria. Since the inception of the current administration in Delta State, led by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Ehiwarior has been a key figure in the state’s executive council.
Born in August 1987, Ehiwarior hails from Ekuku-Agbor, Agbor, Delta State. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and a Master’s degree in Engineering Electronics/Telecommunications from the University of Benin. A certified member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and a fellow of the Institute of Policy Management Development, Ehiwarior has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and a capacity for effective governance.
During his time at the University of Benin, Ehiwarior was an active student union leader, serving as Secretary of the National Association of Ika Students (NAIS) and later as National President. He also became a staunch member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and was recognized for his grassroots mobilization abilities, contributing to the party’s electoral victories in Ika South.
Ehiwarior’s political career has been marked by significant appointments, including Special Assistant on Students Affairs to former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and Senior Special Assistant on Students Affairs to the Delta State Governor from 2019 to 2023. His exceptional performance as Commissioner for Power and Energy led to his endorsement as the PDP’s flag bearer in the forthcoming Local Government Council election.
Ehiwarior’s emergence as the chairman of Ika South Council has brought hope and unity to the area. His simple lifestyle, love for his people, and commitment to their growth and development have earned him widespread acceptance. With his leadership, Ika South is poised for greater development and progress.
