The Western Cape High Court was given a demonstration of what a witness says is the hand signal for the 27s gang, as the trial of the men accused of murdering Brian Wainstein and causing havoc in Cape Town’s clubs, continued on Tuesday.

Mr X, who worked for Wainstein and became part of the plot to murder him in August 2017, testified on Monday how he was initiated into the 27s gang in a garage in Mitchells Plain.

The accused laughed at him as he spoke about a sword moving over his body in a semi-circle as other gang members spoke a language he did not understand as part of this ritual to make him a soldier of a gang usually associated with prisons.
