Bidvest Protea Coin chief operating officer Waal de Waal said two roaming buffalo are a danger to Gauteng motorists and pedestrians.

De Waal spoke to News24 following an hour-long aerial search in which Protea Coin deployed a chopper alongside the Gauteng Traffic Police Department on Monday. The team, including two veterinary specialists, searched the Rietvlei Nature Reserve riverbanks in Pretoria, but to no avail.

“We think they walk up and down the river, grazing in the nighttime. If you look at their modus operandi, they walk around early in the morning, afternoon, and nighttime,” he said, adding that the team would continue the search on Monday at 21:00.
