Residents of Nelson Mandela Bay’s northern areas wake up every day fearing they will be the next victims of violent criminals terrorising their neighbourhoods.

Over the past 12 months, the metro’s northern and rural areas have been plagued by countless murders – mostly gang-related – that have left residents fearing for their lives and desperate for more police intervention.

According to a community leader, Gaby Machune, almost 300 people were killed in the northern areas in 2022.
