As the year nears the end, South Africans were dealt another blow with the death of iconic playwright and musician Mbongeni Ngema.
The Sarafina! creator was killed in a head-on collision in Lusikisiki, Eastern Cape, while returning from a funeral on Wednesday evening.
According to his brother Nhlanhla, who spoke to eNCA’s Thami Ngubeni, the 68-year-old was the most injured of the three occupants in the vehicle and succumbed before he could make it to the hospital.
