A top January 2025 player transfer target has been involved in what has been categorised as a drunk driving incident.
Real Madrid and Manchester United’s player target has been fined for being involved in a drunk driving incident in Germany.
Early Thursday morning, Munich police stopped Alphonso Davies, the Bayern Munich star, for suspected drunk driving in his Lamborghini Urus, valued at €216,000. According to German outlet Bild, the incident occurred around 2:15 a.m. after the player’s driving behaviour raised suspicions.
Upon being pulled over, officers noticed the smell of alcohol on Davies and administered a breathalyzer test. The test revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.6 grams per litre of exhaled air. While not meeting the 0.8-gram threshold for criminal charges, this reading constitutes a traffic offence under German law. As a result, Davies was prohibited from driving further, and the vehicle was entrusted to a friend who was deemed fit to drive.
Legal expert Dr. Gennaro Festa explained to Bild that Davies faces a €500 fine and a one-month driving license suspension. This penalty aligns with German regulations for cases below the criminal limit. However, reports indicate that Davies did not have his driver’s license with him at the time of the incident.
The news surfaced on Friday afternoon and has yet to elicit a statement from Bayern Munich or the German police. Authorities emphasized the importance of protecting individual privacy and refrained from public comments.
Despite the incident, Davies attended Bayern Munich’s training session on Friday, arriving in a vehicle provided by the club’s official sponsor. He appeared in good spirits as the team prepared for their crucial Bundesliga clash against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday at the Allianz Arena. The Canadian defender is expected to feature in the starting lineup as Bayern looks to maintain their position at the league’s top.
