Imo Grasshoppers of Owerri, Niger United of Minna and Safety Babes of Abuja remain unbeaten in the second phase of the Ardova Handball Premier League in Lagos.
They were superb in their show of game artistry winning with wide margin against their opponents.
The Imo Grasshoppers, who were the whipping team of the female category in the first phase of the league held last July in Benin City, Edo State, appeared to have found their rhythm in the second phase.
After thrashing the Bendel Dynamos of Edo state by 34-23 in their second game on Wednesday, they came back on Thursday to beat their arch rivals, Benue Queens 27-21.
An elated coach of the famous Grasshoppers, Chikwendu Onwu was full of praise for his girls after the win at the handball court of the National Institute for Sports, National Stadium, Lagos.
He said they were in Lagos to prove their critics wrong as he hailed his players for accomplishing the task.
“My girls showed resilience in their approach of the game, they maintained discipline, worked hard and showed dedication. We hope to continue in this form as we prosecute the remaining matches of the league.”
Leaders in the female category, Safety Babes of Abuja could not beat their arch rivals, Plateau Peacocks as they settled for an 18-18 draw yet, maintaining their lead on the log. The Defender Babes thrashed the Bendel Dynamos 34—23 as Seasider Babes of Lagos drew with Rima Queens of Sokoto by 25 -25.
The men’s runner up on the log, Tojemarine Academy whiplash Confluence Stars 32-21, while Correction Boys scaled through Benue Buffaloes by 22-18.
