Factual Pursuit of Truth for Progress
The Presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has congratulated President Bola Tinubu on the occasion of this year’s Democracy Day.
In his message to Nigerians, Adebayo said that some heroes of the nation’s democracy are no more, hailing Tinubu as a key Senator of the SDP in 1993.
While lamenting that the rituals of elections will come and go every four years, the renowned legal practitioner queried if the nation is making progress.
He said: “The only way we can make progress is if the electorates are enlightened on the assumption that as citizens you have a right to vote”.
The SDP chieftain added that vices like selling votes, voting according to religious and tribal sentiments and other distractions must be avoided during election years.
Adebayo, however, urged the government, political class, civil society groups, institutions and others to learn lessons from the anniversary of the nation’s democracy.
