Delta State Commissioner for Technical Education, Mr. Smart Ijeoma Ufoh, Visits Agbor Technical College, Promises Improvements

The new Delta State Commissioner for Technical Education, Mr. Smart Ijeoma Ufoh, recently paid a courtesy visit to Agbor Technical College, where he commended both the staff and students for their dedication. Accompanied by his entourage—including the permanent secretary, the director of education, and a media team—the visit aimed to address the school’s challenges and build a collaborative relationship with its administration.

During the visit, Mr. Ufoh addressed the pressing issue of inadequate markerboards and chairs, assuring the school of a swift resolution. “Contracts have been awarded and I assure you today that the chairs for the students are already under production and will soon be delivered to your school,” he announced. His words brought relief to many, signaling a step towards improving the learning environment at the college.

Addressing the school’s staff, the commissioner emphasized the importance of commitment to their responsibilities, urging them to maintain high standards. He reminded them that “the teacher has not taught if the students have not learnt” and assured them of his support, saying, “I am a friend of all and will assist the schools under me the best way I can during my administration.”

During the session, a staff member, Mrs. Adams Nwokoro, raised concerns about the dilapidated state of some school buildings and the issue of leaking roofs. She appealed to the commissioner for proactive measures to address these challenges, stressing the urgency of the situation.

In response to the commissioner’s visit, the school’s principal, Mrs. Roseline Hadome, expressed gratitude, appreciating the commissioner’s commitment to addressing their needs. She pledged the school’s dedication to fostering positive values among students, stating, “We will always do better and be better than you’ve met us. Thank you for coming.”

Mr. Ufoh’s visit has been well received, and the school community looks forward to the promised improvements that aim to enhance the quality of education at Agbor Technical College.
