China beat Myanmar 5-0 in the third game of the second round of the 2024 AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup qualification in Group B at Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar, on Saturday.

China already clinched a spot in the U20 Women’s Asian Cup next year before Saturday’s game, but they didn’t pull their punches against Myanmar. Lu Jiayu, Jiang Chenjing and Huo Yuexin scored three goals for the team in the first half, stripping the competition of its suspense early.

Zhao Xinyue added another two goals for China in the second half, making sure that the team finished the two rounds of the qualification games with six straight wins with a clean sheet.

As Chinese Taipei beat Nepal 5-0 earlier at the same stadium, they replaced Myanmar as No. 2 in this group thanks to a better goal difference and secure qualification for next year’s U20 Women’s Asian Cup.

The final eight qualified teams for the tournament are Uzbekistan (hosts), Japan, South Korea, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, China, Australia, Vietnam and Chinese Taipei. The competition will take place from March 3 to 16, 2024. The top three teams will qualify for the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
