Springbok scrumhalf Cobus Reinach
- Springbok scrumhalf Cobus Reinach has received a death threat on social media, according to Springbok director of rugby Rassie Erasmus.
- The threat comes after South Africa beat host nation France 29-28 in a Rugby World Cup quarter-final last Saturday.
- The Springboks are preparing for their semi-final clash against England this weekend and named an unchanged team for that encounter.
According to a social media post from Springbok director of rugby Rassie Erasmus, scrumhalf Cobus Reinach, who started in the 29-28 Rugby World Cup quarter-final win over France on Saturday, has been the target of a death threat.

Erasmus took to X (formerly known as Twitter) on Thursday, where he included screenshots of the threat, which translated into English read: “Dirty son of a b****, I hope that when you return to Montpellier, you get murdered by French people on the ground. Gang of thieves, easy to win the title by cheating.”
The threat also included a picture of Cobus Reinach’s son, with Erasmus adding: “Unfortunately, these threats was [sic] made to Cobus Reinach!! It’s not nice and upsets a mom and dad to see things like that about their boy! But we are not gonna whine, we will just move on!! Hulle weet nie wat ons weet nie.”
