Algeria wins bid to host 4th Intra-African Trade Fair

Algeria has been selected by The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) to host the fourth edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF2025) in 2025

The Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) has emerged as a significant platform for promoting trade and investment across the African continent.

Since its inception, the event has been instrumental in fostering economic integration and strengthening intra-African commerce.

The first edition of the trade fair took place in Egypt in 2018, garnering immense success and attracting participants from various sectors.

Building on this triumph, the second edition was held in Durban, South Africa, in 2021, further solidifying the event’s reputation as a leading driver of regional trade. Egypt again hosted the just-ended third edition.

Speaking at a ceremony to announce the 2025 host A former President of Nigeria Olusegun Obasanjo who is also the Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Intra-African Trade Fair Obasanjo, commended Afriembank for yet organizing another successful IATF.

He said the IATF had been very instrumental in driving intra-African trade which was very crucial if the continent was to realize its growth potential.

Ms Kanayo Awani, the Executive Vice President of Intra-African Trade Bank, stressed the need to begin preparations towards the next IATF.

She urged the private sector, governments, investors, and all stakeholders to collaborate and ensure the success of IATF.

She acknowledged that the project was intricate and multifaceted, encompassing various components such as Business to Business, Country Day, trade and investment forum, Creative industry, and Auto shows, among others.

The Algerian Ambassador to Egypt, Abdelaziz Benali Cherif, expressed his country’s readiness to host the landmark event in 2025.

He highlighted the positive impact of the new investment law in Algeria that would push intra-African trade.

He emphasized that the private sector was now empowered to drive economic growth and invited African partners to participate in mutually beneficial opportunities.

The ambassador expressed gratitude for the decision to host the next IATF in Algeria and pledged the country’s commitment to ensuring a successful event.
