Angry community members in Tsakane, Brakpan, are at loggerheads, with some calling for spaza shop owners to leave, while others say they will continue to support them.

The divisions emerged following a community meeting on Wednesday afternoon, after the death of little Refiloe Usman. The six-year-old died on Tuesday after allegedly eating biscuits from a local spaza shop.

The meeting was held after a protest took place earlier in the day, during which locals looted and trashed a number of spaza shops, including the Hallelujah spaza shop, which allegedly sold the biscuits to Usman and others.
